How to Replace an audi car key replacement cost G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video Charles the humble mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is situated at the edge of transmission just above the flywheel gear. It sends a message to the ECU via an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is located at the edges of the transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then uses this information to control fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also where the camshaft lies to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is not in alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of the possibility of a chain stretch or jump in the chain link of the upper chain of timing. However the code will not appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing can be a bit difficult because there are two connector pins, and they serve different purposes but the most effective way to test it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. When the sensor is functional, it should read around 1000 ohms. If you're having issues with this part, check for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll i had an abrupt drop in power like the engine is running out of gas or injectors aren't firing any more. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs, 3 were drenched in gazoline, the fourth one was dry. When i crank the engine without sparks i put tissue on the top of each hole in the injector, the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th one stays closed. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. I got zero ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The audi car key replacement cost can start if the G28 is unplugged and it runs perfectly when it is plugged in however it has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do, but i believe that i've eliminated everything else. However, i'm afraid that I might have missed something. Please let me know if you have any ideas! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate a spare in a wrecking shop or a parts store. Test them out - put your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black connector's end). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines requires to know both the speed and position of the crankshaft to determine timing of fuel injectors, etc. It makes use of a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If either of these go bad you will get codes on the diagnostic scanner that can cause the engine to shut down.

A malfunctioning G28 sensor could result in an inaccurate speed counter for your gearbox, a gearbox that shifts faster than normal, or an unfire when in gear. It is likely that your sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you encounter any of these signs. The good thing is that they are very cheap and readily available, especially when you're looking at an Bosch sensor, which is what we have. If you prefer, GM's version of this part would be a good option.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine sensor can cause a number of problems in your car. It's an essential component of the transmission in your audi car key holder, as it transmits information to the ECU about how fast or slowly the car's engine is turning. When this sensor fails, it could disrupt the performance of the transmission and the other car key cover audi's components.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the outskirts of transmission, above the flywheel ring. It transmits signals via gray wire to ECU pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this signal to regulate fuel and boost, as well as timig. It also relays it to the G5 Tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for any failure by checking the continuity between it and the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should detect an average resistance of 1000 ohms between these points. This part is common across the key audi 80-100-200-RS2 range, beginning with the 1985 MC and up to the 1997 UrS AN and the 1995 RS2 Du So, you may find good ones in wrecking yards.Peugeot-2021-New-Black.png
